The Grafton Regional Gallery Creative Studio is a fully equipped workshop space designed to accommodate a range of artmaking and presentation requirements. We are looking for creative practitioners and businesses interested in undertaking community arts initiatives, workshops, and studio practice in 2025.

CREATIVE STUDIO EXPRESSION OF INTEREST GUIDELINES

The Grafton Regional Gallery Creative Studio Space is available for community arts programs for 2025/6.

Located in the heart of the GRG precinct, this purpose-built art studio features a stainless-steel workbench, two deep sinks, lino flooring and audio-visual equipment. The space is ideal for workshops, demonstrations, and studio practice with capacity for up to 16 workshop attendees, and up to 25 for demonstrations or meetings.

Expressions of Interest are open to Clarence Valley artists, creative practitioners, and community groups at any stage of their career.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Creative practitioners or groups interested in hosting workshop programs or artmaking sessions. 
  • Creative practitioners or groups looking for space to develop creative practice.
  • Activities that build community use and awareness of the Grafton Regional Gallery precinct.
  • Activities that support cultural and creative development in the Clarence Valley
  • Example 1: a First Nations group wants to host regular cultural development sessions
  • Example 2: a group of textile artists use the space to conduct regular meetings and art-making sessions
  • Example 3: an artist collective wants to run a series of school holiday activities.
  • Example 4: a choir uses the space for their weekly rehearsals.

     

    EOI PROCESS

  • EOIs are open to artists and community groups residing in the Clarence Valley local Government area.
  • Open to all creative practitioners at all stages of their careers.
  • When assessing EOIs, we will be looking at supporting programs that offer diverse, quality experiences for the Clarence Valley community. 
  • Successful EOI applicants must have public liability & professional indemnity insurance ($20,000,000 per cover).
  • Successful EOI applicants must hold a current Working with Children Check (includes Volunteer WWCC)
  • EOI submissions will be assessed within six (6) weeks of closing date.

 

CREATIVE STUDIO PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • Activities must occur within business hours (Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 4pm).
  • Activities and events are separate to GRG programs.
  • Activities should not interfere with Gallery or Café operations.
  • Studio and equipment to be left clean, tidy, and in full working order after use.
  • Flexibility may be required in the event of venue hire. At least 3 days notice will be given in the event of a venue hire booking.
  • Activities to be approved by GRG Director prior to programming.
  • Activities deemed inappropriate, outside the scope of the Creative Space program guidelines, or duplications of Gallery activities will not be approved.

     

    PROMOTION, BOOKINGS & TICKETING

  • Practitioners / groups are responsible for managing bookings and registrations for Creative Space programs.
  • Practitioners / groups are responsible for managing financial transactions where applicable.
  • Practitioners / groups are responsible for promoting and advertising Creative Space programs in consultation with GRG staff.
  • Where possible, Creative Studio activities will be promoted via GRG social media channels.
  • GRG Creative Studio credit lines and promotion guidelines apply.

PROPOSAL DETAILS

The Pitch: Briefly describe your Creative Studio Space proposal (up to 250 words): (what is the activity, when will you use the space, who is the activity for, how will your activity be conducted i.e. free activity/ticketed event, why would you like to be part of the GRG Creative Studio Space program)

 

SUPPORT MATERIAL

  • CV or information about your group (maximum 1 A4 page max)
  • Up to 6 good quality images if applicable– (300dpi / 1mb JPEGs).  Images should be indicative of practice/activity. NB: maximum 10MB submitted electronically by email
  • Image captions including name, title, date, medium/activity
